Golly Gee Willikers!

It's really raining out there!
With wind too!

Question: Is it weird that I frequently blog about whatever is outside of my window? I think it probably says a lot about where I spend most of my time...how lame. Oh, well.

I'm going to a basketball game tonight, are you proud of me? I'm trying to be all school spirited and stuff...no, actually, one of my teachers "requests" (for a grade) that we participate in campus activities. Of course, I think this is a great idea...but I still don't want to do it. I suppose I do enjoy it though...why am I blabbering about this?

Reading? Ha!

Not on a day like this!

It's sunny!

It's the perfect temperature!

There is a wonderful breeze!

And even better...there is little, if any, snow left on the ground!

How could I possibly read?

NOTICE: Yes...these are pics I took in the fall but we can pretend they are spring pictures, can't we? Alright, thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Hahahaha...

I was foolishly excited over this a couple of months ago:

So, you can imagine my reaction when I woke up this morning and saw this:

And these little beauties were dangling from my window:

Hey! And I was lucky enought to not have any classes today! Yippee! Snow Day!

Weekend Job?

Okay, so I've been confronted a few times (once by my dear friend Laura) about my knitting skills. I knitted this awesome laptop case and the few times I've carried it around I've been given some compliments. Laura requested that I make one for her and even offered to pay me for it. In all honesty, I must admit that my laptop case was meant to be for my sister's ex-roommate. Yes, I kept it for myself. I'm terrible, I know. But in my defense, when you knit something you put a lot of time and effort in it and you get a little attached... Anyway, it doesn't seem like I'm making a point but I'm trying to...It isn't called Ramblings of a College Student for nothing...Okay, to the point! Should I let my talents be known and sell these pleasant little cases? I could also make scarfs, mittens, camera cases etc. Some of these things I can crochet. I would say things like blankets, pillows, sweaters, etc. but those are far too time consuming. I'm just afraid that too many people would ask for them all at once and I'd get stressed out or else I'd make a whole bunch and no one would want them. :(

The laptop case is knitted and the camera case is crocheted.

If I were to make a little business out of this, how much would I charge? I already have most of the knitting needles I would need and yarn is only about $3 for one small project. Buttons are a couple of dollars, I think. But how much is my time worth? I kind of think it is worth a lot considering I am also going to school. What do all of you out there think? Is there anything I'm not considering? Do you think people would want to buy these things and if so how much would they be willing to spend? We are all poor college students after all. I would be willing to make custom things, should that be taken into account?

Well, I also had another idea while sitting in history class today. I think it would be a wonderful idea to record my professor's lecture, make copies, and sell them to the poor students out there that can't sleep at night with the endless police sirens here at Cambridge. I'm sure my prof. would be happy to know that he was making a difference. I'm kidding, of course. My professor seems really nice but he really can make 50 minutes feel like two days...

Time Goes By...

so slowly... for those who wait... yes, that is a song by Madonna and I'm sorry about that but if fits in very well with what I'm going to talk about.
I feel like I've been here for a year already! Okay, maybe just a week. It's really only been three days. I think it is because I get up early and go to bed late. It makes me feel like I'm going through two days rather than just one.
I can't wait until classes start (which they do tomorrow). I'll finally have something to occupy my time and thoughts. My brain has pretty much gone to mush. No, it is probably more to a liquid state by now. I did refer to the library as a "lie-berry" earlier. I'm regressing...it is really sad.
I've been filling my time up playing family feud online and solitaire...and bookworm. I know I'm a real dork for playing all three of those. I really have no life. But now my sis has joined me here at Cambridge and I'm pretty excited to be having one less person to miss. I hope that it is more help than harm having her here with me. I don't want to rely on her too much but I enjoy having her around.
I really miss all my peeps out there. I feel a little guilty saying that because my BFF Michelle is being an exchange student in Germany for a year and I'm complaining about missing people that are only an hour, or more in some cases, away. My family has been keeping in contact pretty well so I don't miss them quite as much as I might if I never heard from them...on the bright side.
I don't let the guilt or the bright side get to me though. I still miss them... :(

Am I alone out there?

Okay, here are my thoughts from the convocation today: "Wow, just how annoying and disrespectful are my peers? It really saddens me when I think about how different I am from them. I was somehow taught to show respect and be considerate of other people. How wrong my parents were."
I can't explain how delighted I was to see someone stand up and tell them to be quiet. I guess it was just nice seeing that I'm not really as alone as I thought I was. I thought I'd share that with everyone (or like the two people that read my blog). Don't you love it when God proves you wrong? I know I do.
This is semi-related to the convo. I don't think I've ever seen that many cell phones all at once. Nearly every single freshman had his/her cell phone out texting merrily while someone was trying to give a speech. Okay, it was probably only one third of the crowd...perhaps less...I should give my peers a break. This is the world they've grown up in. They know not what they do.

Okay, now on a different topic:

Wow, just as I was thinking that "Cambridge" wasn't so bad, I witness an especially sickening car crash. Well, by witness I mean that I heard the sickening sounds and saw the aftermath. Seriously, you would not believe the number of ambulances and police cars. And somewhere off in the distance a car's horn is going off...just to add to this pleasant scene.

Before that, I was admiring the campus and thinking that it was really not all that bad. "Cambridge" isn't really too awful. It has its good points. I think I enjoy the mix of the older buildings and the trees. I think that is what gets me about it. And that is why I can't quit staring out of my window. I guess I'm still a little awed by large buildings...

Ugh, now I smell a very icky smelling smell coming from my window...eww. Perhaps it is smell finally drifting towards me from the crash...or maybe it is the notorious smell of "Cambridge".
